We're back, baby! And oh boy, there's a lot of you guys! New members, thank you so much for showing an interest in the club, and old, glad to see you again! With all of your help, LandA will be able to make even more of a difference this year!
The meeting seemed to have a rocky start when our usual meeting room, A241, had technological issues, but quick thinking and Mr. Miranda's generosity allowed us to usher in the both the members and the new year in his room instead. Never let it be said that LandA can't roll with the punches! After settling in, the LandA officers welcomed the club and proceeded to present the PowerPoint detailing the club's premise, people, and purpose. If you missed this meeting, worry not! There's an attached file of the introductory PowerPoint below with all you need to know.
First, the previously elected LandA officers introduced themselves, with Farbin Towhid and Julia Joseph both acting as Presidents, Farhan Towhid as Secretary, Daniel Honrales as treasurer, James Wood as Project Manager, Sabree Galvan as Community Relations Manager, Amila Haque as historian, and, finally, Cody Van as Media Manager. Check out the About Tab on this freshly updated website for more information about these phenomenal people! Which, speaking of the website, we went over all the new details you can find here as well!
Afterwards, the officers discussed our previous projects and successes; next meeting, we'll start suggesting project ideas for us to begin working on. We went on to say that club dues will be $15 and the t-shirt fee will be $5, along with the fun idea of tie-dying all our shirts one meeting! This is an entirely student-run and student-funded club, so every penny is greatly appreciated! Not to mention that the Point System in still in place--donating supplies, attending meetings, and other actions will be rewarded with "points" that can earn you numerous achievements!
Finally, it was game time. Once the members gathered their snacks, we sat back, ate, and played a rousing game of Kahoot! Farbin would like to apologize for having one of the answers being about bank robbery, and will offer points for you to not call the police. Please. She can't go through that again.
Once the final scoreboard led to cheers and groans, once the sweet, sweet prizes were doled out, and once everybody had stuffed themselves with chips, it was then that this great meeting came to a close. This day certainly bodes well for the year to come, and we hope that LandA growth and service will only continue! Thank you so much for your attention, and here's to a new year filled with Love and Art!
